Animations

Hi all! I don't stop by here often, but I've been looking for some advice.

I'm looking to try my hand at creating some animations, preferably in Flash swf format like this TG animation here: http://www7.plala.or.jp/mashiroyou/0...geTwo00-04.htm

I've downloaded Flash Pro 8.0, but from what I've heard from other people, the animation function of the program is poor-quality and very hard to use (and in spite of all the instructions I've looked at, I can't get it to work anyway, I think my copy is bad). I'm a bit short on funds right now too, which makes it all the harder to find a good bit of software.

Which program should I look into for producing decent-quality animations?

Thanks!

Re: Animations

General best advise would be to download plenty of the new toys, find the
one(s) your comfortable with and stick with those regardless of whether
shinier new toys come along.Knowing the ins and outs of the toy your
comfortable with means that when your project goes beyond the softwares
capability, the project can be adjusted and time wasted banging on
the keyboards in frustration is avoided

Easy Audio Editor by Dan Dan Media
shareware audio editor with 2 tracks and the usual audio functions
to play with pitch, volume of the track. Also has features that create
echoes,chorusy sounds,etc.Doesn't need upgrades of the OS.Shareware
only saves 1/3 of track, overcome by copy/paste of track to 3 times its
length.Suitable for about 15-20 minutes of soundtrack, tends to hang up once
in a while with big jobs.

ZwieStein Video Compositor by Thugs at Bay.a freeware video editor.Barely
use its video editing function, too puzzling to figure out.Use it as a video
converter.Digital cameras propietory avi codec doesn't work in my main
video editor so I use wieStein to convert from one codec to another and
blow up/shrink frame size

Video Frame-by Flicker Free, apparently now defunct software developer
a shareware program that after 30 days starts playing with the" instrument panel" and encouraging the user to buy the registered version for US$69.
However unlike some shareware it remains at 99% of functinality, and the
odd dabbling of the "instrument panel" is no big thing. It uses the 2 track
timeline method.Basically a ruler along the top measuring time
down to 1 frame,.Then 2 video tracks and below that two audio tracks.
The .wav file is visually displayed, which allows simple audio editing
of the sound tracks. When a sound/video track is sliced and diced,a corresponding 'snip 'marker goes up on the video/sound track that went
with it.Hence plenty of options to slice and dice the timing of the
sound and image. The thing has a built in sound recorder which automatically
loads the saved sound track into the current project at the same time
the wav file is saved elsewhere.

Re: Animations

VF will resize the image files to suit the make Movie specifications.

So a 8-1/2 x 11 drawing scanned in at 75 dpi probably goes into VF as a
860 x 640 image,which if VF is asked to make a
640 x 480 video,is going to involve some processing time for VF to resize
things

Re: Animations

If you're looking to draw by hand on your PC, 'Pencil' is a pretty neat program. Basic, but free.
