| Just joined - Tailman123 Hi i just joined to see what this place is like. Is it a furry first place or is there room for other kind of transformations. I have a tail fetish and like to draw men and women with different types of very long tails, having them and growing them. I have posted 7 drawings of women with tails and will be posting more of men with tails. I think people should have long tails and have thought that since i was a boy. Hopefully there will be some people here who think the same way. |

| Re: Just joined - Tailman123 Awesome sculptures, but I am not a member of Deviant Art (not an artist). Pooey I think TF Central will take their TFs in just about any form. Speaking of tails on humans, I've often wondered what society might be like if humans were 100% human in every respect except... we had fur. Beautiful two layer fur. Guard hairs and an undercoat. We'd probably avoid wall-to-wall carpet (mostly and American thing, it's everywhere here) and velour upholstery would be out. But the biggest change would be clothing. Humans wear clothes for three reasons: protection from the elements, a display of status and wealth, and modesty. If we had good fur our need for protection from the elements would be greatly reduced. And modesty is a cultural thing. Total naked can be a bit much, but if a woman could partly hide her nipples in her rich pelt, her need for modesty would be reduced. That is, the occasional glimpse of a "naughty bit" may become socially tolerable if the wearing of some article of clothing to eliminate that possibility was uncomfortable or distasteful. To put it another way, it's easy to dress the part of a Puritan when it's only a few degrees above freezing and you are a "naked ape". This leaves only the display of status and wealth as a compelling reason to wear clothing. A reason that could be largely satisfied by jewelery, scarves or ribbons of rich cloth, and creative fur dying or clipping. My perception is that TF artists think a little more about the differences between humans and the anthro-whatevers they transform into, than furry artists. For example, I've seen drawings of fur covered anthro-fems wearing fishnet stockings. Cute, but stupid and thoughtless. In real life fishnets over fur would be nearly impossible to put on and look asinine (beyond stupid). And a mountain lioness in tight jeans may look hot, but I seriously doubt one would ever wear any type of tight clothing. Anyway... welcome. Scotty |

| Re: Just joined - Tailman123 Good call on the clothing thing, Scotty. Though, I might be quick to point out that being ashamed of your own body is kinda patently American also. n.n Which brings about another question: would fur-covered people in America dress differently from everywhere else? |

| Re: Just joined - Tailman123 There are 2 brothers in latin america who have an ailment or condition where they have thick brown hair covering 95% of their body including their faces and hands. They are circus acrobats and wear traditional clothing. I saw a show on them on TV.

| Re: Just joined - Tailman123 Quote:
It seems to have started with Manuel Aceves (the "wolf man") who was born in 1938 in Zacatecas, Mexico. He is the uncle of Jesus "Chuy" and Lili Aceves (brother and sister), who've worked in circus side shows. And Manuel is the grandfather of Victor Ramon "Danny" and Gabriel "Larry" Ramos (the brothers you mentioned). Danny and Larry work as circus acrobats. One of Jesus Aceves' daughters has the condition too. Manuel passed away a few years ago. (Try Googling any of the mentioned names.) The condition is called hypertrichosis and for the Aceves clan it's genetic. The vellus hair--the really fine, thin hair that covers most of our bodies--grows thicker, darker, longer and more visible. In other words, it can look like fur! The same gene that causes this hair growth also causes the teeth to be sort of peg-like and crooked and the nose to be flattened. There's a little girl in the Philippines and a man in China with the condition too (he's billed as the hairiest man in China). These secondary characteristics of the gene don't seem to have affected the Aceves clan nearly as much as the Chinese man or Philippine girl. It may be they have a defect in a different gene. The condition of extreme hypertrichosis is very rare and estimates are 40 to 50 total throughout recent human history. Having only a few areas on your body with too much vellus hair is more common. I knew a Hispanic woman who had sort of side burns. Finer than her head hair and about a inch long, but black. I thought she was pretty--not because of her extra hair, or despite her extra hair. She was just a pretty girl who happened to have extra hair on her cheeks. It was kind of cool she didn't freak out about it. There's another condition that women can get called hirsutism where--either because their hair follicles are too sensitive to the hormone androgen, or their body makes too much androgen--they will get "male pattern" body hair growth, including a beard, chest hair, etc. If you must know Google "scary hairy women" and turn off the family filter--not work safe! You've been warned. Unfortunately, hirsutism is too common. It's freaky enough that many women with the condition hate it, but not freaky enough they could make a living in the circus. Scotty |
