What should cause the transformation?

My first main act upon this forum shall be to make the poll: What actually makes the change happen? (or rather; which you prefer).

Feel free to discuss/post reasons.

I chose clothing/item, but; honestly, I couldn't make up my mind. A bite would create a sort of thrill to the event, of course it would be painful though (unless you liked that kind of thing). A wish or deliberate spell would be great too, considering it automatically get you what you want...but, lately I've been findin this method tiring...for now. Chemical/drug...I'm writting a story at the moment relating to that method (I just hope its good and not to messed up ) The others are cool too, but wasn't that siked about them being the main method.
I have only been thinking about the clothing or item as the main reason lately because of certain reasons. Having a collar as the conduit for instance...The collar could work either way (being surpressive or releasing of the wild side). Thinking about Leo Lobo's webcomic "The Gift", the characters in that were able to release the beast inside them after wearing a family heirloom collar, the collar letting out the beast in this case. To be submissive, I could see the collar turning the person into the animal by force, making him/her accept the primal nature beyond will (in a lighter term, a victim becomes a dog, the collars power also changing the mind to accept the canine's instincts and behavior without a fight). Recently, I thought about what would happen if someone had been wearing a speical collar all their life till one day. Taking it off would release the beast inside right; and as the change progressed, the subject would begin to feel the animal instincts and behavior affecting him. This would be when the subject decides to fight what is happening or accept his ture nature and become freed, become the animal he/she turely is.

yeah, they all have good values. I can't decide between skin or clothing. I guess I like the idea of having something you're new "form" fits into.

I said "other" because they all work for me--that is to say I would not rule out any of those methods when creating a story.

There is an "other" option, but out of curiosity, what is your preferred method out of everything and anything?

Genetic: It runs in the family and they have some control of the process, but it isn't easy and requires practice to master.

Santa Claus: A wish on Christmas eve, because the recipient really, really wanted it. Not reversible.

I have to go with chemical on this one. I use an object in my GIAGANTIC EPIC WEREWOLF STORY! But I like to vary. Still, chemicals just make me think of all the angsty hatred that can boil from a victim of THE GOVERNMENT EXPERIMENT GUYS!!
